Independent Assessment Confirms DATA.AIR Gen 2 Detects Methane Emissions Seven Times Below MiQ's Minimum Requirement
GHGSat's Second-Generation DATA.AIR Recognized as Compatible for Use in MiQ Certification
Montreal, Canada — June 2, 2026 — GHGSat, the world leader in emissions-monitoring technology, today announced that DATA.AIR Gen 2, the second generation of its aerial methane monitoring solution, has been recognized as compatible for use in the MiQ context — the global independent standard for certified methane emissions performance in the oil and gas sector. The recognition follows a formal compatibility assessment conducted by MiQ and is subject to any applicable MiQ program requirements.
The assessment confirms that DATA.AIR Gen 2 meets MiQ’s requirements for Facility Scale Inspection, with a minimum detection limit of 3.5 kg/hr at 90% probability of detection — roughly seven times more sensitive than MiQ’s minimum requirement of 25 kg/hr. Depending on deployment characteristics, DATA.AIR Gen 2 can achieve detection sensitivity between 3.5 and 15 kg/hr, with attribution down to the equipment level. Performance was validated through controlled-release testing at Colorado State University’s Methane Emissions Technology Evaluation Center (METEC), under the METEC/TADI Combined Monitoring Protocol V1.2.
