GHGSat Joins European Space Agency’s InCubed 2 Programme, Expanding Collaboration with UK and European Government

London, UK – June 24, 2025 – GHGSat, a global leader in emissions-monitoring technology, has joined the European Space Agency’s (ESA) InCubed 2 programme, expanding the impact of its pioneering methane emissions insights across UK and European government agencies.

InCubed 2, (Investing in Industrial Innovation – Phase 2) is a flagship initiative of the European Space Agency, focused on developing innovative and commercially viable products and services to leverage the value of Earth Observation imagery and data. Supported by a total of £3 million in funding from ESA and the UK Space Agency, the programme is designed to bring innovative space companies together with public sector partners to develop solutions that will transform the delivery of public services across the UK and Europe, ultimately driving societal benefits.

Operating the world’s largest fleet of satellites dedicated to methane, GHGSat provides robust global coverage of methane emissions, surveying more than 4 million sites annually and tracing the source of leaks down to individual pieces of industrial equipment. In 2024 alone, GHGSat detected more than 20,000 emissions over the “super-emitter” threshold of 100 kg/hr. Drawing on an unmatched ability to revisit sites daily and alerting stakeholders within hours of a detected emission, GHGSat delivers unparalleled understanding of emission sources and trends to government agencies, enabling data-driven decision-making for effective regulatory policy and accurate benchmarking towards climate targets.

Under the InCubed 2 programme, GHGSat will partner with cutting-edge UK companies to build an advanced analytics service specifically tailored for UK and European government applications. The new service will integrate GHGSat’s proprietary methane data with AI-powered analytics and user-friendly delivery tools, providing public-sector partners with timely insights to support environmental reporting, regulatory compliance, and policy planning. This initiative aims to strengthen the government’s ability to monitor emissions at scale and respond to environmental challenges effectively.

Since launching its first satellite in 2016, GHGSat data has been used to mitigate methane leaks equivalent to the annual emissions from more than 4.4 million cars
