GHGSat and Koda Resources have expanded an industry-leading partnership to advance methane emissions monitoring across the Uinta Basin, located in Utah. Under this renewed commitment, Koda Resources will draw on GHGSat’s cutting-edge aircraft-based methane monitoring technology to monitor its oil and gas infrastructure for methane emissions as part of its environmental sustainability and process optimization initiatives.
Koda Resources has been working with GHGSat since 2021, leveraging the pioneering remote-sensing technology to ensure that methane emissions, particularly fugitive emissions, are detected and mitigated. GHGSat’s aircraft flown sensor provides a unique ability to frequently track methane emissions in areas that have historically been overlooked by traditional methods, such as gathering lines, areas away from the pads, and more—tracing emissions that might otherwise go undetected to their source.
With the renewal and expansion of this collaboration, Koda Resources reaffirms its position as an industry leader in environmental sustainability initiatives. Through this partnership, Koda is utilizing the most innovative technologies available on the market to ensure proactive and effective emissions management, which not only benefits the environment but also minimizes the financial costs associated with methane emissions.
“Accurate emissions data on the whole of an industrial facility, beyond the typical areas for greenhouse gas leaks, is foundational to reducing an organization’s environmental footprint and the financial losses that stem from methane emissions,” said Ryan Mattson, Vice President at GHGSat. “Koda Resources has a history of investing in the most innovative methods to measure and detect greenhouse gas emissions, and this expanded partnership is a testament to the commitment of their entire team.”
Through this partnership, GHGSat and Koda Resources are setting new standards for responsible energy development, demonstrating a shared commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability for the oil and gas sector.
