Chevron takes action on methane

Partnership for climate impact

Chevron, one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, published a methane report
sharing their approach to detect, measure and reduce methane intensity utilizing emerging technologies. The report provides detailed information on Chevron’s perspective and actions in presenting methane emissions, scaling advanced detection technologies, and highlights the collaboration with GHGSat via the commercial application of our satellite monitoring solutions.

Effective methane emissions management is a key part of lower carbon intensity oil and gas production. With the use of GHGSat’s high-resolution satellite technology, Chevron was able to monitor 22 oil and gas production facilities from space., GHGSat has the satellite technology and data analytics capabilities to monitor, detect and quantify methane emissions from onshore industrial sources. The collaboration between both companies will continue for onshore methane monitoring project and offshore pilot.

Chevron is taking action on methane, supporting efforts like the Global Methane Pledge and the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative’s (OGCI’s) Aiming for Zero Methane Emissions Initiatives, with the ambition of becoming a global leader in methane emissions performance. Their goal is simple – keep methane in the pipe.
